Japanese "Idol" Costume Designs

It has been a little while, but I have been working steadily towards new personal and professional goals! After visiting Japan, and living there for a short while, I was thrilled have the opportunity to design for Japanese Idol style musicians that perform both in the US and Japan. Although I cannot yet release the name of my most recent collaboration - I can take this opportunity to mention the work I did with Akiba Idol Yumemi Hayley!

Yumemi's primary image color is blue - so it was very important to ensure that the primary color of her stage outfit was the same. I pulled on my experience with dance theatre (as she would be moving about on stage quite a bit) to create a costume that had a fun, bright and "Kawaii" vibe.

I am very fortunate that Yumemi wore this outfit during her performances in Akihabara, as well as those here in the United States. I definitely look forward to designing wardrobe items for more Idols in the future!
